SPOED
Hoi, ik ben Dready
SPOED

Dready — Working Line German Shepherd, Male, 3 Years Old
Dready is a working line German Shepherd imported from a reputable breeder in Canada. He comes with full pedigree and lineage documentation, is microchipped, vaccinated, and intact — he has not been castrated as he carries genuine breeding potential. He is our fourth working line shepherd, so we know this breed intimately. We are rehoming him because we are relocating internationally and cannot provide the space and environment he deserves in our new home. This is not a decision we are taking lightly. He is a much-loved member of our family and we want to find him a home that truly understands who he is.
And who he is, quite simply, is a dog who lives to work.
Dready is intelligent, physical, driven, and full of character. Give him a job and he will give you everything he has. He thrives on structured activity — chasing balls, jumping obstacles, scrambling over anything in his path, tracking, searching, following commands. He loves a challenge, the harder the better, and the satisfaction he gets from getting it right is written all over him. He is at his absolute best when his mind and body are engaged, and an active owner who wants a dog that can keep up with them will find the perfect partner in Dready.
With people, he is exceptional. He is genuinely sociable and affectionate — not just with his family but with strangers too. He does a quick assessment when he meets someone new, but he processes fast and within moments he is looking for their attention, rolling over for belly rubs, and winning them over. He has never shown aggression towards people. He is loyal and protective in the way all working line shepherds are — he will position himself between his family and an unfamiliar visitor — but it sits alongside a warm, open temperament that makes people fall for him quickly.
He is wonderful with children. He has grown up with our three daughters and is patient, and playful with them. He can get a bit boisterous and does not always know his own size, and his herding instinct means small children running around will activate his drive to round them up and keep them together — but that is endearing, manageable, and part of who he is.
We need to be honest about his challenges too. He can be territorial with other dogs, particularly in and around the home, and he will want to establish boundaries in his own space. He is reactive towards unfamiliar dogs at close range and introductions need to be done properly — gradually, in neutral territory, and under controlled conditions. With the right introduction he would most likely be fine with another dog in the household that matches his energy and temperament. He is cat curious — his prey drive means he will want to chase, but with proper introduction and consistent management he could adjust to living with a cat in the home. He is quick mentally and physically, and his instinct is to react first and think second. Short, varied training sessions work far better than long repetitive ones. He needs a confident, experienced handler who can match his energy and channel his drive rather than suppress it.
Dready is not a toy. He is not a dog that will sit quietly in the corner. He is demanding in all the best ways — and in the right hands, he is extraordinary. We are in no rush. We would rather wait for the right home than settle for the wrong one, and we are happy to support the transition however we can.

Reden van herplaatsing
Verhuizing of emigratie
Our family is relocating internationally later this year. Our new living situation will be significantly different — most likely an apartment in an urban centre, with no garden and limited outdoor space. That is not the right environment for a high-energy working line shepherd who needs room to run and work. We also will not have the same access to the kind of training facilities and open spaces that Dready currently benefits from. We looked seriously at whether we could make it work, but the honest answer is that it would mean compromising on the life he deserves. Dready has given us everything over the past three years and we owe it to him to find a home where he can thrive — not just survive. He is our fourth working line shepherd and we know exactly what these dogs need. We would rather make a difficult decision now and find him the right match than take him into a situation where he cannot be the dog he is meant to be.
